Mosquito Control

Our work focuses on identifying and treating areas where mosquitoes are most likely to develop.

• We identify standing water where mosquito larvae can grow within Town boundaries and around the community
• We monitor and treat these areas during peak mosquito season, from May to September
• When mosquito habitat is found, we look for ways to reduce or prevent larvae from developing
• Where needed, we use federally approved larvicides to control mosquito larvae before they become adult mosquitoes

This proactive approach helps:

• Reduce nuisance mosquito populations in our community
• Lower the risk of West Nile virus transmission
• Support safe, enjoyable outdoor spaces for residents, families, and visitors

All products used in the program are federally approved and applied according to strict safety guidelines.

Our approach is targeted and controlled, focusing only on known mosquito breeding areas to minimize environmental impact while supporting public health.

Residents can also help reduce mosquito breeding by:

• Removing standing water around their property (such as buckets, tires, and containers)
• Keeping rain barrels properly covered or screened
• Ensuring yard drainage areas do not hold stagnant water
